Building connections and achieving goals through recreation therapy and aquatic therapy
Recreational Therapy is highly individualized and utilizes a variety of intervention strategies to address and improve deficits in functioning. RT also seeks to integrate lifetime leisure skills, community and family involvement with independent functioning.
At Rec2Connect, we utilize standardized assessments to identify a client’s needs, interests, and abilities, then develop individualized goals. Most goals target motor or social skills to improve overall functioning. Our staff work to target these goals in each session with engaging and purposeful activities. Data is taken following each session to track progress and ensure goals are added or modified as each is mastered.
“Recreational therapy, also known as therapeutic recreation, is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions, as a means to psychological and physical health, recovery and well-being.” -ATRA, 2019
